Last week’s comments brought a lot of revelations:
Medgadget’s coverage of the measles outbreak in Boston, and the involvement / quarantine of several Christian Scientists led to some comments from a representative of the Church, and a rebuttal from one Rita Swan. We learned that Dr. Swan is the president of Children’s Healthcare is a Legal Duty (CHILD) who lost her own son, an infant, almost thirty years ago. His death led to her leaving the Chuch of Christ, Scientist and working to prevent other such deaths due to medical neglect.
Our post on the controversies surrounding human-animal hybrids quickly devolved (evolved?) into a discussion of the uniqueness of some human emotions.
Finally, our post on the RapeX condom generated hundreds of comments on Digg… and a few thoughtless comments on our own site. We used to think we had an elite, highly educated readership — were we mistaken?
